About

Hi, thanks for visiting my site.

I've been a designer for over 20 years. I create my paintings, illustrations, designs and hand lettering from my home in Northern California. I also currently teach in the Art Department at CSU Stanislaus.

I hold a BFA from BYU (Brigham Young University) and an MFA from MU (Marywood University).

To me, plein air painting must be more than a simple copy of a scene. It should capture the light and shadow, texture, color and in the end be an emotional response by the artist. I strive to communicate the feeling of a scene through my paintings.

All these high expectations, while battling the mist, heat, cold, and changing environments of plein air painting make it rather exciting! Many dull hours followed by a gust of wind and a tipped easel.
